Melville Oval, Hamilton (Victoria)

My list of worst "grounds" (using the term loosely) is much longer.:-D

Is it true that Aussie club games are played on AstroTurf wickets?

There are lots of differnent types of artificial types of wickets that are used especially in lower leagues and country areas.

The difficulty/cost/time in maintaining turf wickets in a hot and dry country means artificial wickets are very commonly used.

They have got a lot better over the years. Played a lot on malthoid (a black material containing bitumen laid on a concrete base) in my early years. It was very abraisve and took the shine off the new ball fairly quickly.

Was lucky enough to play on turf quite a bit too. Always envious of your lush green outfields!

Castle Eden easily. Also used to like Ormesby Hall. There was another one in the Cleveland league too where the pitch used to slope off square of the wicket and if you were fielding at deep cover you were almost below the pitch level in the trees and flowers. Sure it was near Guisborough

Grand Turk for the location.

The former County Ground in Portsmouth for the playing surface.

Still have a soft spot for Whitburn.

Yes, played at Bamburgh and it's spectacular, but the pitch wasn't so good.

I've played at a couple of the bank grounds in London, where the facilities are first class - the Bank of England ground at Roehampton and one at New Beckenham which has since been bought by Kent and they've played quite a few games there.

Burnley Cricket ground had some special about it always liked Oswaldtwistle really had a good community feel to it

the HAC in the City of London. Fantastic place.
Last place you'd expect to come across a cricket field. But looks great.

I'll put in a word for Whitburn where I was a junior (coached by one Bernard L Cairns the pro one year), and Ashbrooke.

Then Kew Green and Twickenham, plus one or 2 grounds in Essex which I can't remember the names of.

some pro ground in holland on a tour age 15 , fuck knows its name

Reckon it was a mistake them taking the cash and moving?
Heart says definately, but they've won the league now six years in a row, have a nice pavillion and a canny track, so it was probably the right thing to do. Miss the old ground mind.

i was quite envious of my bairn playing at feethams earlier this year. nice pitch and a lovely pavilion. i haven't had the pleasure of playing at that many nice grounds. but i liked west park at hartlepool.

Arundel for me, right next to the South Downs & the lunches & teas were special.
