Well now might be a good time to re-book it!
The match has been moved and will now take place 24 hours later than originally scheduled.
We face our longest away trip of the season for the mid-week fixture and the game, which was to be played on Tuesday 12 January, will now take place at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday 13 January, at 7.45pm.
The change was made at Swansea’s request, due to their Emirates FA Cup third round fixture being played on Sunday 10 January, leaving only two days between that game and the scheduled league fixture. Sunderland AFC strongly opposed the game being moved and made strenuous representations to the Premier League to that effect.
Sunderland face three consecutive away fixtures in a seven day period – Arsenal in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday 09 January (3pm), Swansea on Wednesday 13 January (7.45pm) and Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 16 January (an early kick off at 12.45pm) – meaning Black Cats fans will travel almost 2,000 miles in just one week to support their team.
The Premier League have ruled that Swansea City FC must reimburse ticket and travel costs incurred by Sunderland fans who have already purchased match tickets, should they be unable to attend on the rearranged date.
Sunderland has sold out nine of its ten away games this season, which has seen 21,765 fans travel a total of 4,650 miles to support the team during the 2015-16 campaign to date.
Tickets for the Swansea game have been subsidised by £10 each by Sunderland AFC and are priced at £25 for adults and £7.50 for supporters aged over 65 and under 16, and full-time students.
