After a week of silence and frustration after our humbling defeat at Leicester, reports emerged this morning that Fabio Borini(remember him?) is close to returning to SAFC on loan.
The long summer saga of 2014, was a frustrating one to say the least. Gus Poyet and Lee Congerton fought a losing battle, as soon as Borini boarded a plane to the USA with Liverpool a matter of days after SAFC had agreed a fee for him, it was apparent he would not be returning.
However, fast forward a year, out of favour with Liverpool and linked with a return to Italy, it looks like Borini will be continuing his love affair with SAFC, if reports are proved correct.
Borini was much loved during his loan spell two seasons ago. His goals against Newcastle home and away and arguably everybody’s favourite, the opening goal at Wembley against Manchester City, put him into the hearts of the fans.
Last summer dragged on seemingly that felt like forever, the only question really is that if the deal is a loan, what will happen next summer if his expected loan is a success?
