Rumours over the last few days, have suggested Jermain Defoe is on the verge of leaving SAFC to join one of his former clubs, Bournemouth. One report has even gone as far as to suggest a fee of £6million has been agreed.
With Defoe’s high wages and inability to fit into Dick Advocaat’s 4-3-3 system, these rumours were always going to surface at some point.
Defoe however, has recently spoke on social media playing down any chance of leaving. The thought of Defoe leaving only Danny Graham and Steven Fletcher as our only two senior strikers is unthinkable.
Another name has been linked with SAFC over the last few days, Sebastian Heller who plays for FC Utrecht. He has had a impressive start to the season, scoring three goals in two apperances.
Brentford have also been credited with an interest and have already had a bid turned down in the region of €6million, with the asking price believed to be €7million.
With the transfer window closing in less than two weeks, SAFC need to get moving to save a season that is two weeks old. Ellis Short has recently come under fire from fans and former player Michael Gray. Whatever the current plight is at the club, it is time to show ambition to get us out of the mess we are constantly in.
SAFC leaves you with a feeling of groundhog day.
