Things were looking extremely rosy with twenty minutes gone last night, we were two goals to the good and looking comfortable. Twenty five minutes later, we had conceded three against League Two opposition. The defence, all over the place. Again.
Advocaat is growing more frustrated with every passing day at our transfer business, which again has left more questions than answers. The only person who thinks the squad doesn’t need high quality reinforcements is worryingly our owner, who remains reluctant to listen to Dick’s pleas.
After our defence seemed to be in self destruct mood last night, Advocaat is on the look out to help improve the defence.
One player who will not be joining is Man City’s Belgian international Jason Denayer, who looks set to move elsehwere. Advocaat spoke to reporters after the win over Exeter to confirm his concerns over the defence and his mission to improve the side.
“There has been talk about the young guy from Manchester City, but he is going to another club,”
“We are still looking, but when Kaboul is fit, he’s a very good player.
“I’m happy with the six goals, but totally unhappy with the way we gave three goals away. That has to improve and the players know that.”
This time next week, the transfer window sponsored by Sky Sports News HQ will be over, Jim White’s cringe worthy cameo will be over and our highly frustrating summer will be over.
Time will tell on how our season will pan out, however time is running out and fast.
