The club has launched an official YouTube channel, located at www.youtube.com/sunderlandafc
The new channel will target both a domestic and international fan base, showcasing exclusive video content from the club, including behind-the-scenes features, player interviews, archive imagery and some of the more humorous moments of life with the Black Cats.
The free service kicks off ahead of the Black Cats’ opening home game of the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season against Manchester United.
Some of the channels highlights at launch include a ‘best of’ feature, with captain John O’Shea first up, looking back on some of best moments of his career. Jozy Altidore talks about the Black Cats new link with MLS side DC United and fans can also enjoy some of the Black Cats most memorable moments such as last season’s trip to Wembley for the Capital One Cup final.
Fans who sign up will also get the chance to win some fantastic Sunderland-themed prizes.
SAFC’s commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “The launch of the YouTube channel is the next step for us as we look to grow and develop our digital estate. It will complement our existing video service and will help to bring Sunderland to a whole new audience.”
YouTube Strategic Partner Manager, Tomos Grace, added: “Over one hundred UK football clubs run official channels on YouTube. Sunderland is a large and passionately-supported club and we’re very happy to welcome them to the platform.”
The channel will enhance Sunderland’s existing video portfolio, which features SAFSee, the club’s digital channel, which offers free video content to fans across the world.
