It is nearly 40 years to the day since we last won a major trophy, but that is no reason not to celebrate it.
As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, Jimmy Montgomery, Dick Malone, Ritchie Pitt, Bobby Kerr, Micky Horswill, Vic Halom, Dennis Tueart and Dave Young will be in the club shop next week to sign special 1973 commemorative memorabilia.
Speaking ahead of the session, Montgomery, who made the memorable double save in the final said: “Winning the FA Cup was a fantastic achievement 40 years ago and people still talk about it now. It will be great to meet up with the rest of the team and see supporters in store. We are all looking forward to the day and celebrations.”
The signing session will take place from 4.30pm until 5.30pm, before the current Sunderland AFC team take on Stoke City in the Barclays Premier League.
The 1973 team-mates will also be introduced to the Stadium of Light crowd prior to the match.
Tickets are still on sale for the game which kicks off at 8.00pm, which are priced from £25 for adults and £10 for under 16s or possibly cheaper from Stubhub
Tickets are available online at www.safc.com , by telephone 0871 911 1973 or in-person at the Stadium of Light ticket office.
