As part of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of Sunderland AFC’s historic FA Cup win, the Stadium of Light will play host to a second event involving the stars of Bob Stokoe’s victorious side.
Following on from the Gala Dinner on Sunday 5th May, the club will host a fans event – the ‘Team of ’73 Cup Run Quiz’ – on Monday 6th May (Bank Holiday). Starting at 12noon in the stadium’s Banqueting Suite, guests will participate in a special 1973-themed quiz, enjoy a hot buffet lunch and get the chance to get up close and personal with their 1973 heroes.
1973 legend and SAFC Ambassador, Jimmy Montgomery, said: “I’m always humbled by how much affection there is for the ’73 team. No matter where we go, fans recognise us and want to share their memories of that fantastic day – even youngsters who weren’t born at the time know all about it! This is event is a great opportunity for us to tell a few stories and share our own memories with fans.”
The event, which includes a drink on arrival, hot buffet lunch and the 1973-themed quiz, costs £30 per person.
