Sunderland Can Earn A Draw Against Struggling Gunners

October 14, 2011 by rtg

Sunderland continue to struggle this season and ordinarily a game against Arsenal wouldn’t be what you want when you are struggling for results but this game could end up being exactly what we need with Arsenal very much struggling at the minute. We’ll review the stats, assess the odds and give some free betting tips on the match.

A lot has been made about Sunderland’s poor start to the season but Arsenal are currently just one point above Sunderland in the Premier League and the Gunners certainly aren’t going to find life easy on Sunday. Arsenal may have home advantage but they have already lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool whilst Sunderland have proved fairly hard to beat on the road this season with two draws out of three.

The bookies seem relatively confident of an Arsenal win here, Arsenal are just 4/9 for their third win of the season. Arsenal’s most common result this season has been a loss, they have lost four of their seven Premiership matches so far, and that could mean Sunderland are good value at 15/2 but it is the draw that is perhaps the most likely result, Sunderland have drawn as many as they have lost this season and that seems to be the real problem of the season so far and you can get 7/2 that this game ends all square.

Neither side has exactly been prolific in front of goal this season and it is interesting to note that two of the last three games between these two teams at the Emirates Stadium have finished 0-0. This suggests that under 2.5 goals could be a good bet here but the bookies are clearly expecting a few goals here as over 2.5 goals is the favourite at 4/6 whilst under 2.5 goals looks too big at 23/20. If you fancy there to be no goals once again in this match then you can get 14/1 at the time of writing on 0-0.

Can Sunderland get a huge win at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday? Should Arsenal be as short as 4/9 in their current form? What are the best bets for this match? Let us know your thoughts.
