It is just like Christmas Eve. Everyone knows when its coming and the clubs have months to prepare their transfer targets and enter discussions, yet there always seems to be a flurry of transfers with 5 minutes to go before the window closes.
So far Sunderland have been linked with the entire Spurs, Portsmouth and Wigan Squads, half of South America, everyone at the African Cup of Nations and a few assorted Egyptians.
We weren’t linked with Matt Kilgallon until 21st January – which happened to be the day we signed him without a single “tweet” from any “In the Know” journalist.
Well, we will see what this evening brings, but don’t set your hopes too high.
