So what did happen at Central Station?

August 11, 2009 by rtg

If the Chronicle or the Shields Gazette are to be believed, 4 lovable police puppies (Clio, Floyd, Earl and Diesel) were “attacked by Sunderland Yobs” kicked and punched and left lying there. (ps. several Sunderland fans suffered minor injuries)

If our message boards are to be believed, the fans were rounded up, cornered and then set upon by unleashed dogs and baton wielding police. Some fans are lucky to be alive today after being beaten unconcious and there are broken bones and at least one fan requiring plastic surgery.

I wasn’t there, but suspect, as always, the truth is somewhere between the 2 accounts.

What is clear is that the Police were there in numbers and prepared (justifiable given the potential clash between SAFC and NUFC fans at the station) but then for whatever reason lost control of the situation.

Anyway, the purpose of this article is to let you know that the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) are gathering evidence of the incident and would like to hear your account if you were there. This is equally important if you weren’t directly involved in the trouble but witnessed it or the events leading up to it.

If you can help to build a true picture, please contact Amanda Jacks at the FSF (email : [email protected] ). There are further details on this thread on the message boards.
