This is what it feels like….

March 25, 2008 by rtg

We only went and done it – proud as hell does not come close, every man jack played their heart and soul out for the cause and got exactly what we deserved… despite yet ANOTHER woefully inept performance from the officials and a really bizarre representation of the game by MoTD (they showed ALL of Villa’s shots and about 2 of ours, what the fuck is that all about?)

Anyway I’m getting ahead of myself, I like going to Villa Park as it’s another of those proper away days at a traditionally big club and the pub we frequent isn’t a million miles from the ground. I always find the fans very friendly unlike their blue counterparts, like when we pulled up at the car park and the car park steward recognised us and welcomed us like old friends – he even said that we we were welcome to the 3 points if it meant that “the blue bastards go down”( well after that we couldn’t possibly let him down now could we?)

We lined up with arguably our the most balanced side I have seen this season with Gordon in goal, Bardsley, Evans, Nos & Collins along the back, Whitehead, Edwards, Richardson & Reid in midfield with Murphy & O’Donovan up front. The early signs were good with Sunderland looking like the higher placed team however after a while Villa came back at us and the same fears circled in my head about away defeats. To my surprise it wasn’t prolonged and throughout the first half we were by far and away the better team and should have had 2 less yellow cards, 1 more man than Villa and a penalty…. for the sake of my own sanity I’ll just say that referees consistently get it wrong against us and it’s gone past the point of my own biased views on Sunderland – it’s purely and simply fucking cheating.

2nd half we started brightly and again looked the more likely side to win until Villa changed things round and put Marlon “I’m the biggest whinger in the world” Harewood on and, to his credit, he started to look like he could change the game…. he didn’t but a good pass from Rico and a great finish by Chopra (he’s one of us) and we were in absolute dreamland (it must be said that we missed a couple of good chances before that but who fucking cares now?). We sang and we danced and the ref gave 3 minutes of injury time and then bizarrely didn’t play more than 2 by my count and blew up to send us lot crackers. It’s a good feeling this winning away lark, maybe we should try it again soon…….

Hero of the Day: Tough one, so I’m giving it to the entire squad for a heroic performance and the fans who were superb again throughout. Also special mention to Villa who are a gracious lot in defeat apart from the moronic charver element who were singing “you’re so shit it’s unbelievable” outside the ground AFTER we’d beaten them – bit of advice to the Villa youth, try singing INSIDE the ground when your teams playing…..

Villain of the day: Joint award – Howard Webb, complete fucking cheat and MoTD for possibly the worst portrayal of a game I have seen in a long time – absolutely pathetic BBC

See ya soon
