Sunderland have completed the signing of West Brom’s Paul McShane in a deal which the Baggies say is worth £2.5m.
The defender went to West Brom on a free transfer from Man Utd in August 2006 on a three year deal, was promoted to the Republic of Ireland senior squad last October, and now has four international caps to his name.
McShane, 21, made 42 appearances for West Brom and scored three times.
West Brom gaffer Tony Mowbray said, “He’s a terrific lad with a terrific attitude to football.”
WBA will earn an initial £1.5m from the transfer; an additional £750,000 will be paid depending on the number of appearances the player makes, plus an additional £250,000 if Sunderland either retain their Premiership status or regain it while McShane is with us.
