Positions vacant: Home match report writer

July 30, 2006 by rtg

Following in the honourable tradition set down by the Quinnsortium in leaving it fashionably late to appoint a key member of staff, so RTG has left it rather late in sorting out appointing a new HOME MATCH REPORTS WRITER.

The previous incumbent, Matthew Woolston, is off to university and on behalf of everyone who’s read and enjoyed his reports over the past couple of seasons, RTG would like to thank him for his sterling efforts.

So the position of Home Match Reports Writer is vacant; we need someone to start immediately (okay, well after the Brum home game to be precise). We need your home match reports online within a few hours of the final whistle (or for evening matches, ASAP next day) preferably already proof-read and spellchecked by you before sending in for publication. This is to cover all home games for the 2006/07 season.

There’s no pre-set format, as long as you give a reasonable overall picture of what actually happened. Have a look here at past examples of both home and away reports.

What do you get in return? the kudos of getting your views online to an audience of…oooh, loads. RTG attracts well over two million page hits every week. Not only will you no longer be confined to giving your views via the SMB (Sunderland Message Board), your reports will be linked-to via the Newsnow news ‘spidering’ website, so that even Sunderland supporters around the world who aren’t aware of RTG will be able to locate your reports.

Fancy a crack at it? Email me a sample match report, written by your own fair hand (ie no copying and pasting from pre-published articles – yes we’ll be checking!), by 9am on Saturday 5th August, to [email protected] – please also include your SMB username (if you have one) and your real name, and we’ll be in touch before the Brum game to tell you if you’ve been successful or not*.

*The moderators’ decision is final!
