FA Cup game will be on a Sunday

December 8, 2005 by rtg

Sunderland’s planned FA Cup 3rd round game against either Northwich Victoria or Woking will be played on Sunday 8 January, the club has announced.

The Sunday date comes about because both Sunderland and Newcastle were drawn to play at home in the 3rd round and Northumbria Police requested a move so that policing resources in the region would not be stretched to the limit by two home games on the same day.

Newcastle will now play Mansfield at St James’s Park on Saturday 7th January and Sunderland will play either Northwich Victoria or Woking on Sunday 8th January. Northwich Victoria and Woking will replay their second round match on Tuesday 13th December to see which of them progresses to the third round.

Ticket details will be posted on RTG’s ticket news page as soon as they are available, when our third round opponents are known.
