The return of Craig Russell

September 23, 2005 by rtg

Following in Kevin Ball’s footsteps, another former SAFC star has returned to the club.

Craig Russell made his debut for Sunderland in November 1991 and played for us until November 1997, scoring 34 times from 173 appearances.

And now he’s back – working for the SAFC Foundation, co-ordinating coaching programmes.

He told the club’s official website today, “It’s amazing to be back. I’m looking forward to working with people in the local community, showing them how football can be a positive aspect of their lives.

“I hope to help lots of kids through the projects that I’ll be coaching on. ”
