Sunderland’s first Premiership opponents for the new season, Charlton Athletic, have today confirmed that they’ve signed goalkeeper Thomas Myhre.
Myhre turned down a new contract to stay at Sunderland and now the Addicks have signed the Norwegian on a one year contract.
Charlton gaffer Alan Curbishley said, “We asked for dispensation from the Premier League to see if we could make another loan signing, which we couldn’t, so we’ve brought Thomas in.
“He played more than 30 games in Sunderland’s promotion season last year, and he is an international with plenty of experience.”
Myhre had been playing on a match-by-match basis for Fredrikstad in his home country since leaving the Stadium of Light.
