Ipswich midfielder Tommy Miller will sign on the dotted line for Mick McCarthy when he returns from honeymoon next week.
Miller’s father confirmed the news to the Sunderland Echo today – so subject to passing a medical, the north-east born player will become Mick McCarthy’s third signing inside a fortnight, following Nyron Nosworthy and Miller’s former Ipswich colleague, goalkeeper Kelvin Davis.
Miller Snr told the Echo, “Sunderland is the only club Tommy would leave for – he’s excited about it. I used to take him to Roker Park to watch matches.
“He gets back from his honeymoon on Tuesday and will drive up to Sunderland on Wednesday to have his medical and sign.
“He wouldn’t be coming here if he thought Sunderland would come straight back down because if he wanted to play in the Championship he would have stayed at Ipswich.”
