Women aim to stay top

March 5, 2005 by rtg

Sunderland AFC Women aim to consolidate their position at the top of the Northern Division on Sunday when they travel to bottom placed Tranmere.

The records of the two teams couldn’t contrast more, with Sunderland winning 14 and losing 3 of the 17 games they have played this season and scoring 57 goals.

Tranmere meanwhile have only won 2 of their 13 games they have played. However Sunderland manager Mick Mulhern is taking nothing for granted and said :

“It’s going to be a very tough game, Tranmere have had one or two problems but not so long ago they were in the national league. They’re fighting for their lives right now and there aren’t any easy games in this league.”

The Tranmere match will be played at Heswall FC on the Wirral at 2.30pm on Sunday.
