Sunderland have appointed Kevin Richardson as their new reserve-team coach.
Richardson takes over from Jocky Scott who left the Stadium of Light to become first-team coach Plymouth Argyle yesterday (see RTG newspage for full story).
The former Everton midfielder joins Sunderland in a coaching capacity for the second time.
He worked for the Black Cats four years ago as youth team coach – renewing acquaintances with Peter Reid and Adrian Heath, his former Everton team-mates – before leaving to join Stockport County as assistant manager a year later.
Richardson’s son, Jake, plays for Sunderland’s under-18 side.
The former England midfielder played for Everton, Watford, Arsenal, Real Sociedad, Aston Villa and Coventry in a successful career.
