‘Centre of Light’ to get Royal opening

October 27, 2004 by rtg

SAFC Foundation’s Centre of Light, the new educational facility within the Stadium of Light, is to be officially opened next month by Her Royal Highness, The Countess of Wessex.

The Countess of Wessex is patron of SAFC Foundation and takes a keen interest in the wide-ranging education initiatives delivered by the charity.

The Royal visit will take place on Wednesday 17th November, when The Countess will be given a full tour of the new classrooms and meet with young people and teachers attending the centre.

Following the official opening, The Countess will attend a luncheon at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland AFC Chairman, Bob Murray said: “We are very proud of the work of the Foundation and it is a tremendous honour for Sunderland Football Club to welcome Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex once again. The Centre of Light is an outstanding education centre and I am delighted that Her Royal Highness has accepted our invitation to officially open the facility.”
