Sunderland Football Club’s charity, SAFC Foundation, is giving supporters another chance to abseil from the top of the Stadium of Light!
SAFC Foundation has linked up with the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund to host the event, which aims to will raise funds for both organisations.
The abseil is to take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of November 2004 and those supporters lucky enough to secure a place could find themselves descending the side of the Stadium with Sunderland legend Kevin Ball and Big Brother star Jonny Regan – himself an ex-fire fighter. The Fire Brigade, along with a fully trained team of experts will be on hand to ensure that all safety requirements are met.
There are a limited number of places available and supporters are urged to secure their place early to avoid disappointment. Fans can register as individuals or with colleagues at work, or friends and family.
Speaking about the abseil, Kevin Ball said: “I’m delighted be able to help two very worthwhile causes. I’ve abseiled before but never off the Stadium of Light so it’ll be a new experience for me. I’m really looking forward to it and hope a lot of fans will be joining me.”
All participants are required to pay a £10 non-refundable registration fee and then raise a minimum of £75 sponsorship.
There will be certificates for all those who take part, two match tickets to anyone who raises over £150 sponsorship and an SAFC signed football for anyone raising £250 or more.
All monies raised will be split between SAFC Foundation the registered charity of Sunderland Football Club which aims to raise educational attainment of young people, using football as the motivator and the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund – a charity which provides support for the fire service community, both past and present, when they find themselves in need.
