The Ready To Go website has been in existence since 1998 and we intend to continue to provide a service well into the future.
However, those of you accessing Ready To Go at peak periods will have noticed that the site can run quite slowly and on occasion even freeze up entirely for a minute or two.
The main server we are running on is now struggling to cope with the amount of traffic directed at it with monthly figures exceeding 14 million page impressions (30 million file hits) and daily peaks of up to a million page impressions on days when any major news is announced.
The primary server we currently have in place can no longer cope with the peak periods and there is no way our backup server could even begin to deal with this level of traffic.
As a result, we’re looking to replace our primary server with a newer, faster one and retire the existing backup server.
To do this we will need to raise at least an extra £120 a month on top of the funds currently generated through advertising and user donations, and need this to be guaranteed for a period of at least a year.
To fund this we are looking for a major sponsor or sponsors for RTG.
We can obviously offer our sponsors lots of publicity – and year round publicity at that. The main RTG site receives thousands of visitors each and every day of the year, both from Sunderland and from Mackems exiled around the world. Any sponsor can be guaranteed high visibility on the website and message boards, the exact format of which we will discuss with any potential sponsor.
