Gary Breen has been called for the Republic of Ireland squad to face France and the Faroe Islands in World Cup qualifiers.
The Sunderland skipper – subject of a controversial dismissal in our league match against Sheffield United – is one of Brian Kerr’s 24-man squad which also includes former Sunderland midfielder Kevin Kilbane and Paddy Kenny, Sheffield United’s keeper who did so well against us in last night’s league game.
The squad will assemble in Dublin for training on Tuesday 5th October and depart for Paris on Thursday 7th returning to Dublin on Sunday 10th in preparation for the game with the Faroe Island on Wednesday 13th at Lansdowne Road.
A limited number of tickets are available for the RoI v Faroe Islands game on 13th October; they will go on sale on Monday 4th October from the Ticket Office in 80 Merrion Square, Dublin, and also on credit card line 01-6627828 between 10am and 5pm.

Meanwhile both Sean Thornton and Stephen Elliott have been selected for the Republic’s Under 21 squad to face the French U21s in Troyes. Don Givens’ chosen lineup is unchanged from that which he picked for the last two games against Cyprus and Switzerland (3-0 victory then 4-2 defeat respectively).
