Wessington Way/A19 Roadworks

August 9, 2004 by rtg

Fans are advised to allow extra time when traveling to matches at the Stadium of Light due to roadworks on the main route there for people from outside of the city.

The roadworks are at the junction of the A19 leading onto the A1231 (Wessington Way) and long delays are expected at the A19 roundabout.

Sunderland AFC’s Safety Officer, John Davidson has been liaising with the relevant companies involved and reports: “These road works are expected to continue until October and we have been informed that it is unfortunately not possible for them to be cleared on matchdays.

“This will undoubtedly cause delays to supporters traveling to games and we are strongly recommending that all fans allow plenty of extra time for their journey.”

The Club’s Park and Ride scheme which runs from Sunderland Enterprise Park will continue to operate as normal.
