Mick: “Elliott’s a pest!”

August 10, 2004 by rtg

Mick McCarthy praised new signing Stephen Elliott after the player made a solid debut in red and white against Coventry at the weekend.

McCarthy signed the highly-rated young Dubliner on a free from Man City over the summer and he acquitted himself well despite the final score.

Mick said “Stephen did well for a young lad thrown into the first team.

“He was a pest and a threat and he’ll score goals for us.”

Elliott scored a hat-trick for the Republic of Ireland last summer.
