Medina leaves Sunderland

August 30, 2004 by rtg

Sunderland have confirmed that Nicolas Medina has left the club after having the remainder of his contract cancelled.

Medina signed for Peter Reid in the summer of 2001 from Argentinos Juniors for £3.5m but made only one senior appearance – in our FA Cup third round match against Bolton in January 2003.

He signed for Spanish club Leganes on loan later that year but his contract with Sunderland was not due to expire for almost another two years – until June 2006.

He is expected to sign for another Spanish club, Real Murcia, who were recently relegated from La Liga.
