Thirlwell becomes a Blade

July 27, 2004 by rtg

Midfielder Paul Thirlwell has completed his move to Neil Warnock’s Sheffield United.

As we told you yesterday, Warnock had opened negotiations with Thirlwell who was told at the end of last season that his contract at SAFC would not be renewed.

Thirlwell, 25, has signed a two year deal with United, and Warnock was delighted to have concluded the deal successfully.

“Paul is not a big name but he goes about his job the right way and will do well for us,” he told the Blades’ official site.

“You need what I call a manager’s player – he will give us a steadying influence in the middle of the park.”
