Macho joins Canaries

July 26, 2004 by rtg

Former Sunderland keeper Jurgen Macho has joined newly-promoted Norwich City on a one-week trial.

Macho signed for the Blues last summer on a free transfer from Sunderland but within weeks sustained cruciate ligament damage during the close season which caused him to miss the entire season.

But the 26 year old resumed training towards the end of the season and has been allowed by Chelsea to showcase his abilities at Carrow Road.

New Blues’ manager Jose Mourinho will allow Macho to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer. He cannot take part in any of the Canaries’ pre-season matches during his trial.
