Sunderland have added another pre-season fixture to their summer schedule – a trip to Barnsley.
The Black Cats will play the Tykes, Mick McCarthy’s hometown club, on Monday, July 26 (kick-off 7.45pm).
The fixture is added to Sunderland’s three-game tour of the United States and their match-up with Scunthorpe at Glanford Park on July 29.
McCarthy began his playing career at Oakwell, making his debut as an 18-year-old in 1977. He became a stalwart of the defence in the Tykes team that won promotion from the old Fourth Division to the Second.
He moved to Manchester City in 1983 for £200,000 and won his first Ireland cap a year later.
Tickets for the match will be sold from the turnstiles on the day of the game only and are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
