SAFC and NUFC wait for delayed UEFA stadium decision

December 9, 2003 by rtg

Sunderland AFC and Newcastle United will now have to wait until the New Year to find out if either of them will host the 2005 UEFA Cup Final.

The decision was originally supposed to be discussed by UEFA’s Executive Committee this week – but they’ve confirmed that the meeting now won’t be held until February 4th and 5th.

The Sunderland Stadium of Light and St James’s Park are two of six stadia shortlisted, along with Hampden Park in Glasgow, and three Portuguese venues: Estadio do Dragao in Porto, the Jose Alvalade in Lisbon and the Estadio da Luz – Benfica’s own Stadium of Light.
