Norway boss advises Flo to go

August 10, 2003 by rtg

The coach of the Norwegian national team has blasted Sunderland for keeping Tore Andre Flo in the reserves and threatening his place in the Norwegian team.

Nils Johan Semb has again reiterated that Flo needs to be playing regular first-team football to hold down his international place. Flo’s agent says his client isn’t bothered by playing in the reserves, but Semb has advised Flo to move to a team that will give him first team football if he can’t find it at Sunderland.

Semb said “What Sunderland are doing seems like politics – they obviously can’t keep players like Kevin Phillips and Flo.

“I have asked him to train harder than ever to get into the first team. If he doesn’t, he should find a new club if he wants to be a potential national team player.

“He just has to keep working and never give up.”
