Information for the season ahead for all supporters in the states.
With the final international game of the year, the 02/03 Football Season is officially over, consigned to nothing more then a bad memory and a bitter taste at the back of the mouth. But for Safcsa branches everywhere the hard work goes on.
At the beginning of Last Season Safcsa USA, the official Sunderland Supporters Branch for the United States of America was formed and we have spent our time wisely- using it to get to grips with the difficult task of dealing with Sunderland supporters in one of the largest countries in the world.
Currently we have already held several small-scale meetings and match day get togethers in our headquarters in New York City, and next football year our Branch magazine ‘The Bridge’ is set to become a regular feature, with up to date match reports and articles from our executives available on our website at Safcsa-usa.com (currently under construction).
But there are also going to be several important changes in the coming season that all members should be aware of.
To begin with, after several requests from our members we now intend to place more articles online and the best of the batch will be selected from the magazine and placed on my section of the site here at ready to go. Also, membership cards will be sent out with the next magazine (giving a limited discount at the Safcsa shop at the stadium in England) however after some long talks with members who were not keen to use their photographs we have elected to send them out as is, hopefully with a bonus included in the package as a thank to you to everyone keeping with us after an appalling football year.
In the future we look forward to hosting several events in the states at various locations outside of New York as well as an official branch AGM during the summer- News of which will be posted here on RTG and on our site. We will also continue to see if it is possible to get division one matches shown live within the USA… we’ll let you know how that one turns out.
In the mean time, if you would like to know more about the USA Branch, or indeed it’s new Oz wing (formed by a core of sunderland supporters in Australia) then give us an email at one of the email addresses found at the bottom of this article.
To all of our members then, we would like to wish a great(warm) summer, and for all Sunderland supporters no matter where they are, better tidings for the coming promotion campaign.
