Can't really judge on yesterday's sub appearance but not sure if he'll cut it.
I think he will, hes still very young and needs time to develop
Obviously he has had injury problems and he could lack sharpness, so I hope that's the reason for him having the first touch of a baby elephant.
Not comparing the two for skills etc. but Balotelli is 21 - I wonder what he was like 3 years ago at Wickham's age?
I think he will, he's only 18 so he's still very young.
More of a thug than a footballer.
Agreed the lad has the talent but think we should have loaned him back to Ipswich for this season, toughen him up a bit
Not sure he has the raw talent but big players tend not to 'come good' until they are 23/24 so impossible to tell so early in his career
First season away from his home town club, thrown into the fire through circumstances and playing in league that is arguabley much, much tougher than anything he's experienced before???? I think barring his injuries he's done well.
He's far from the finished article but ffs he is 18 years old with a big price tag hanging over him and massive expectations at a big club where he's being expected to go up against experienced defences.
It's like saying the apprentice at work is going to be able to do the job straight away.
Sayin that he signed a four year contract, but hasn't he got clauses for a big money move if the top four come in?
strong ten minutes yesterday : not ready for Everton away yet but he's improved since the last time he played : MON is going to be a great manager for us
Nobody can really tell, we probably overpaid but he is very young. It was a big gamble, but given his age level of experience etc. it would be foolish to expect that much from him this season, but with his price tag thats whats happened inevitably.
From a team management position I don't think we could really afford to go into this season with Gyan, Campbell (unsure whether when and if he would come back) and 2 kids in JI and Wickham. We would of been better off spending the money on a more senior player imho.
anyone Notice SBC hasnt made his opinions on Whickham known on this thread, must be too noticable to talk shite on
I agree bs, wickham bought a pug puppy off me cousin and turned up in a white 'overfinch' range rover! A dunno the amount it's worth but probably 40 grand.
I'd say that he's probably a better player now than Drogba, Zamora, Jones, Carroll, Dzeko, Ba, etc. were when they were his age.
He'll come good and he'll prove to be a bargain.
He will come good IMO. Just because he is a big lad does nt mean he is a target man, he is raw and to be honest I would rather we had spent the money on a proven centre forward, if we had the cover I would make him available for loan.
and the rest marra ! to have it "overfinched" is probably 40K !
