Two musts for survival

we need to finish above three teams remember?

i'm not arguing we can't get out of trouble, but seriously, we will need to play better & more consistent than we have all season and i just haven't seen anything in this side or from this manager to tell me that when the shit hits the fan and we need to stand up and be counted that we will do that.

As I said though, we don't need to do that. 2 wins and a draw will almost certainly keep us up. Just the 2 wins alone could be enough.

Whoever pulls out of it, is going to have to show some improvement in form. We've already shown an enormous improvement lately, and the Cardiff game is the key game. Win that and break the bad habit, and the momentum and confidence taken from it would see us pull away imo.
Lose it - momentum vanishes, acceptance sets in.
This 90 minutes will define our future.

lose to cardiff and it is all over i agree with that... However;

we need to beat cardiff, beat wba & get a point from swansea/man u IMO and even if we do that;

norwich play man u, arsenal, chelsea so should finish below us.
cardiff play us, mags, chelsea so hopefully will beat the mags only and still finish below us.

we need fulham or wba to finish below us
fulham play hull & palace at home and stoke away
wba play west ham & stoke at home and arsenal away [and have a much better goal difference]

west brom only need one win to finish above us even if we do get 7 points. fulham are a point ahead but have a much worse goal difference so they need to match our performance basically.

cardiff look goosed, norwich too unless us & fulham don't get more than another 3 or 4 points [which could easily happen].

we need to outperform fulham, that is what it comes down to. we could win one game between now and the end of the season and stay up or we could win two and go down.

squeaky bum time

I agree with all of that, barring WBA. They have a massive game v WHU on Saturday, and WBA are the league's draw specialist (15 draws in 34 games incredibly) and have won 6 games all season - less than anybody else.

Should WBA fail to win at the weekend, that would leave them still needed a win or a couple of draws potentially. Their following game is Arsenal away, which they'll 95% sure to lose, and then they play us...imagine the pressure on that game? Like I say, if they don't win on Saturday, they will almost certainly come here needing something. .

i reckon wba will get a result against either west ham or us.

you point out wba are shite, but so are west ham. and as for the pressure it will be exactly the same for us, have we beaten a bottom 10 team at teh sol this season? we have been dreadful against the teams around us. i hold no hope but obviously will f***ing love it if we stay up

I would say our chances are fair. Put it this way, I wouldn't swap circumstances with Cardiff, Norwich or Fulham. We have the most games to play, and 3 home games left. It's a toss up, and this weekend will have a very big impact on everybody. We could be out of the bottom 3 altogether with a game in hand, or cut adrift at the bottom and all but down.

You reckon Fulham are going to win all their 3 remaining games!?!?

Because they would have to get more than 7 points and they cant get 8 points can they!

it's that time of the year where the team that needs a result beats the team that doesn't need a result
Also Magath looks like he knows what he's doing unlike say Solksjaer or Neil Adams ...

In fact I got it wrong. If we get 7 more points then Fulham need only to get 7 which is 2 wins and a draw from 3 games. I would have a healthy bet against that!

Yes, but Fulham would have to win all their remaining 3 games to finish above us if we got 7 more points.

i don't think fulham will win all their remaining games but i'm not overly confident of us getting 7 points either.

our best chance is we can rustle up a win out of our 4 and everyone else loses all of theirs.
