Does it make me a total gayer if I get one
I've got two wait no, I've got three.
what's a decent one(s) to get mate and how much should I be looking to pay?
Aye but you've got a website man, I'm just some div with a D40 trying to be the van gough of the SMB
I've only had my camera a month and a half. Only got the site because I'm a web developer and built it myself.
class - www.apbphotography.com
Let me know when it's up and running, cheers!
There'll be people out there with more expertise on this than me.
I've got a cheap 'minipod' from Jessops, just for tabletop use.
A Joby Gorillapod -
And a cheap Giottos tripod.
Get the sturdiest you can afford, there's no point having a tripod if it wobbles in the breeze.
The problem is people want a light, sturdy, cheap tripod - out of those 3 attributes you can only have two.
Light, strong = expensive
Light, cheap = weak
Sturdy, cheap = heavy
In other words you get what you pay for.
People seem to recommend Manfrottos tripods and recently I've been hearing redsnapper mentioned a lot too.
I'm actually working on some photogrpahy website software in my spare time
Based on my site, but more user friendly.
Ok, how much
For a site?
Not sure yet - needs testing so you might be lucky enough to get it for free when it's ready.
Your hosting would need php and mysql enabled though.
Aye but you've already lost me with php mysql craic
Some nice pics on there mate, what you use to edit them?
I use Adobe Lightroom for processing.
whats your site mate? would like to check it out.
at the moment i use a cheap hama tripod ( around £15 delivered off amazon), does the job ok but can be a bit nervey when the wind picks up, still it hasn't fell over or anything so i guess it's ok, actually was out on the beach a few weeks back with Andy M and a freak wave came in and went about half way up it, i was shitting it, expecting it to be swallowed into the sea at any second but it survived and stood firm, but saying that i will be upgrading it soon enough i reckon for one with a bit more flexability.
it's on his sig ya blind get
i have sig's disabled man
Nowt gay about using a tripod. I was reluctant at first because
a) I couldn't be arsed to lug it about/set it up
b) didn't want to look like a dick
I'm glad I've got one now though. If you're using a tripod it makes you think much more carefully about setting up your shot IMHO.
Some cracking stuff on there mate. Nice one.
very very impressive site you have there, looks great, the pics are pretty great too.
agreed. plus if like me you are planning on taking night shots then a tripod is a must, no two ways about it.
Back to tripods
I have a SLIK pro 700DX that I picked up for around £60 in Dubai a year or two ago.
I also have a SLIK tabletop tripod that hardly ever gets used and a Gorillapod that might have been used twice.
My main tripod though, the camera is almost permanently attached to it.
I really should turn my website back into a photography site as intended, rather than just having my CV on there.
