Sounds like they maybe now putting in extra metro n train , I reckon only about 4-500 use the buses now

Theres not a chance in hell that 2,000 are getting the buses. Every single person I know who is going bar 1 are getting the metro.

Theres a load of us going over for the 11.15 metro... best we all pick certain time and head over... the little pricks you see every year lobbing stuff and giving it the biggun wont be there without an escort, but it's still best we travel in numbers.

You will probably see less trouble traveling in smaller numbers mate.

Another statement released pushing for people to get the bus. Thanks but no thanks. I won't be pushed into getting the bus through so my plans won't be changing. And will there fuck be 2000 getting the bus.

I suppose the polis are succeeding in what they're trying to do so far. There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding what metro the majority are getting and what bars we'll be drinking in, if any.

Shame as going through in numbers and enjoying an atmosphere is what it's all about for me.

If there was seriously going to be 2,000 going on the buses there's no way they'd be putting EXTRA trains on, as has been confirmed by Northumbria Police. A few more people than usual probably booked bus tickets this year just in case, worried that with their being no designated metros/trains they might not get on or whatever.

Judging from what I've seen on here, twitter and who I know or have spoken to, there's going to be large numbers around the station area from 11 onwards again and I reckon in the end it'll turn out pretty much exactly the same as it has previous years with the first couple of trains held in Central until the last one gets in then all get taken up together.

Playing devil’s advocate, I suppose going through in numbers is what causes the problems - It provides a focal point for the morons to attack. Getting rid of the mass arrival at noon, probably makes it easier to police

A good few years back during the 1-1 cisse game only around 400 travelled by train.
We all fit on one train and it we were walked right past the mag pubs... f***ing hell on there was.
Everyone there seemed to be a massive bloke who was game as fuck... I had my eyes reet opened that day

Might not get on with it being to packed though marra.
Aye best head for the 11.15 in case it gets full, then 11.30 as back up.

I wouldn't read too much into that mind mate. Given the time of year and shoppers, I suspect that request has come from Newcastle CC.

Yeah that's exactly it. They touched on the escort provoking conflict theory last night and that's why they've scrapped it.

I still fail to see how they're going to prevent bother when hundreds of Sunderland turn up at Central around 12 though.

If I’m honest mate, I suspect they hoped people wouldn't travel in numbers. Rather than the mass arrival at noon, there would be a steady flow from say 10am with the route cleared and heavily policed. Despite no official word, I also imagine the ground would have been open from 10am.

The problem is though: (1) There has been mixed messages coming out of the police about pubs/protection etc in Newcastle (2) Rightly or wrongly, a number of fans actively enjoy the escort and all the bollocks that goes with it.

Things were never going to be addressed in one trip, but perhaps lessons can be learned for next season? Better communication from the police is needed, and if things go ok for those going through earlier, it might help persuade other fans that they don’t need to go through in a big number.

Time will tell

Not chance there's 2,000 going on the buses. I know a canny few ring the club to book their place anyway just as a safety net in case all else fails, but don't have it as their plan A.

Out of everyone I know going and have spoke to, one is getting a lift into Newcastle for about 12 and the rest are going by train/Metro. In fact we've got one extra coming with us this time on the Metro because he managed to get a ticket unlike last year.

Was that when there was a bit bother outside Eclipse/Dog and Parrott? I was right in the middle of there when a smoke bomb went off. Nowt really happened tbh, just the Mags locked themselves in Eclipse while people tried to boot the door in. Nee idea why the police took us up that tiny back lane literally yards from the pub when a nice big road was yards away.

EDIT: Northumbria police just tweeted this as well, extra Metros and trains they reckon:
NorthumbriaPol SAFC @northumbriasafc
3 days until #derbyday. Working with @NewcastleCC to make it #cityforall. Extra @My_Metro & @northernrailorg trains for visitors. #D2BPO

Smoke bomb landed right at my feet, f***ing shit myself
