i'de suggest a freezing cold bath to ease the ache,a hot one will only mask the problem then ul'e find you're muscles are worse,tip for the race is pace yourself don't go off sprinting u'le just be fooked after 20yds! done 3x5k runs since me park run on satda,well i broke 2 of them down into 1.5ks but did a slow 5k today but i'me an ANIMAL I'ME AN ANIMAL
