Just sat thinking today...whilst reading the threads about atmosphere.... How we used to make the air crackle without the aid of a DJ and before the players came out.

For a big game the singing could be going on for half an hour before a match building to a crescendo for when the players came out. The players came out to a massive roar which started as the fans in the clockstand could see down the tunnel, sometimes we peaked to early and were at our loudest before the players out.

We sang a load of songs whilst the players kicked about pre kick off and were inevitably let down by the performance.

The pre match atmosphere was often the best part of the day...yet it does not exist at all now, will it ever be the same again?

You could tell the players were coming as the clapping started in the clock stand

Now loads don't even clap them on.

Are you Quare?

The loudest noise was when the players trotted back to the halfway line after inevitably conceeding. Andy Melville always was the first to collect the ball from our net.

Great times.

Loved RP even in its dilapidated state towards the end of its life.

Luckily i quite like the SOL also, cracking ground, so that has softened the blow.

We had a good atmosphere at SOL during the Reid era as well. Roker was compact so when it was full it was lifting but it was very sad with 12000 in it in the very dark days
