Tory trying to justify benefit sanctions ffs. Loach playing a blinder.

f***ing he'll this owld director is talking some shite.

He is speaking the truth however horrible it is....Posted an article earlier where a bloke was sanctioned and lost his benefits despite having a f***ing heart attack during his work capability assessment. However you want to look at that it is utterly disgusting.

You really think if Nissan was situated in his constituency he would be bothered how the jobs are secured? It smacks of a Southerner pissed off the Tories have served Sunderland well today. Government deserve a lot of credit for today and I'll be seriously considering voting for them next time round
Looks like most of the audience, the rest of the panel and that well known Marxist Dimbleby want some answers.

Some deserve sanctions

Sadly the targets they are given means that they are attacking everybody including people having heart attacks during assessments, people who were taking their wives to the hospital because they were in labour, people who were 5 minutes late for an appointment because they went home to change a baby that had vomited all over themselves. You cannot punish everyone for the actions of a tiny number.

He's babbling, saying things that are good for sound bites and looks to be delusional about Labour. The system will always have some awful cases but he's making his point awfully.

His film looks shite anarl.

It's a difficult system to manage but you won't see me having any compassion for the "can work, won't work", I'd reduce their benefits further and force them into voluntary work.

Tory MP should tell them to fuck off. Same idiots would be hammering the Tory MP if 7500 jobs had been lost today. Great day for the region, well done the government

Bloody tories eh? Helping to not only save 7500 jobs in the north east, but also have managed to gain new investment for us.

Let's all vote labour so Corbyn's socialist book club can make the step up, all we need to do is trust Corbyn with a 500 billion loan

Not sure anybody is digging for an angle. What has to be addressed is the fact that 3 weeks ago they were saying no more investment till we see what the Brexit deal is and now they are not only staying but shifting new models here too. I think it is essential that we know, not because we dont agree that a deal had to be done or that it was good for the country but because of the implications for us as tax payers and certainly for other businesses who want a level playing field and will rightly feel slightly pissed off that some companies are being given preferential treatment.....Even if that preferential treatment is just being told what "Brexit" means, that gives them a massive advantage over companies who do not have this information. Is it ok for instance that the flower importer is left in the dark while Nissan has the information given it could result in them going bankrupt.
As a tax payer, keeping for sure 47000 people in work is a no brainer. These were the number hoyed about today linked directly with Nissan uk. How much would it cost us all if they landed on the dole? We arnt throwing good money after bad like other industries have demanded, we are possibly subsidising a winning model

The film has the potential to create a huge change in attitude in this country....The reviews have been brilliant and his research has involved hundreds and hundreds of DWP staff who are on the front line and see this shit happening. My brother works for them, he is a ,I no longer speak to him as he actually enjoys sanctioning people, he admits that he will use anything and everything he can to sanction them and meet his targets.

Whilst all that might be true, the film looks boring and won't be relevant enough to change public opinion.

This is why I despise politicians at times, rather than say well done they look for ways to criticise.

Everyone knows the Tories are over a barrel on brexit and dared not take a hit on Nissan being the thin end off wedge of exodus at this time .
Great that our region has benefitted for once but don't for one minute think we or the men at Nissan were actually thought of.
The Tories have done a deal With the devil to keep Nissan and like good inscrutible beneficiaries Nissan are being very conciliatory in return .
Pleased for the lads, their wifes and their bairns , our lucky day it seems but normal service will be resumed

I've done quite a bit of family history research and you don't have to go back too far on census records to see families of 7+ people living in 2 roomed properties with little to no help from the state. Things are a lot better now then they have been for a long time and I would say most have a better quality of life now than they would have had in the past.
