Police ready to take hard line

So make it a friendly derby in December, hardline now? that tells everyone something about the police agenda here

100% correct. I'm convinced they were gutted it didn't kick-off properly as, from what I saw, every time a punch was thrown the batons were out and they waded in. They were even in an unmarked Landrover and piled-out when one of their wankers goaded a lad I was with, then ran. I'm convinced he was on their payroll

"Make sure all supporters get home safely". Now that is very nice of the police. I will phone them when I'm finished boozing. Will save me a taxi.
To think some call them nasty names, hang you're heads in shame.

Luckily I think all of the mags who get the train will just get off at St Peters because it's closer to the ground and unlike us at their place there's no reason for them to come into the centre. Agree with others though like I've said since last December that it seems this new stance of policing is just waiting for it to go off so they can say I told you so. Could get interesting if any come through early though...

just viewed it they look very similar but dont think its the same person unless he weighed the chair in to a scrappy after he was nearly burned alive by those pesky mackems
I reckon it's 2 different lads like. The one outside the ground there looks, a bit, erm, less of a minger? **shockface**

NP want it to kick off as this will force the clubs to pay top whack for extra police...
Clubs only pay for cops in the ground tbf

they are desperate for trouble on Sunday
Why? Because of the national negative publicity? Maybe the criticism for not doing an escort? Maybe because it reflects well on the Police if there's running battles? I'm intrigued.

So they can argue in future for early kick offs. They got massively tucked last season by both clubs getting together and branding the police liars. The police will need to do something to try and justify their concerns. Given the fact Newcastle fans have royalty treatment again for Sunday, I don't see much happening in terms of bother.

If there isn't bother and the late kick off is fine, why would the Police still want an early kick off though? Why is that better for the Police?

I've said it plenty before but this prick wants it to kick-off so they can say 'we told you so', I'm absolutely convinced. If they are allowed to wander through our town as we did there will definitely be a different result to December which, could easily have gone West
If it kicks off though, how can they say they told us so? - surely it's their decision to police it the way they are without escort/protection.

Can't see many people would see anything other than that for the reason. Yes we know they'd blame the late kickoff but irrespective of kick off time, they should do as they're told and paid for. Any copper playing this type of brinkmanship deserves everything coming....

They want to be in control, they aren't at present. Sky and both clubs have basically dictated to them what time kick off is, they don't like that.

And it's not a good idea for the Police to be in control during matches? Honestly, all the match commander will be worries about is getting a trouble free game, getting home and not getting hauled in to explain why there was hell on while they were in charge. There is literally zero benefit in having the policing of such a high profile game questioned or criticised and to suggest that there being bother is in the interest of NP is daft.

they haven't been in control when they have had their own way with kick off times.......... horse puncher for example

Quite. I'll happily agree with you if you can tell me where the positive is for NP in loads of bother, loads of arrests and local and national criticism of an apparent inability to Police a match? The answer is, there really isn't one. Aside from the expense of keeping cops on duty that day (not paid for by the club) and re actively dealing with arrests, tying up detectives who can't then deal with other crime for months on end. There's no good for NP comes out of major bother at a match.

They've proved in the past they'll take any opportunity to blanket ban (and try to jail) supporters to fit their agenda of police versus football fans.

They're rotten to the f***ing core
