Will be a good appointment if he signs..
I would be disappointed if this happens.......we should definitely be in for him
would be a stupid move for him, same with martinez to pool.
certain jobs are poisonous in this league and not worth ruining a decent start to your career over.
Would it hell be a good appointment, its a huge risk, the bloke has achieved next to nothing, infact he has achieved far less than the bloke Wolves have just appointed and they got hammered from most for appointing him
He won the league in his first appointment
Another strange one, he has done nothing to suggest he is ready to take on a premier league job yet. Might work out ok for them, but it is a massive risk
So fuck, the bloke Wolves have appointed won it shit loads
This. Of course either could be succesful, but at those clubs and expectations (nomatter how unrealistic) it's very unlikely they'll achieve the success expected.
Let me put it another way Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won the league in every season as manager
villas boas did even better.
problem is he was undermined at every step by everything at the club so never got a chance to coach properly.
villa is the same atmosphere of meddling and turmoil. no manager who's serious about preserving his reputation should go there.
Big gamble for them imo.
They'll need to be patient and give him time but we all know that doesn;t happen these days.
Just look at AVB & Chelsea
Let me put it this way, that really does mean fuck all, he has won the league once in a micky mouse league and now apparently he is ready to be thrust into a huge job in the Premiership. I would be spewing if i was a Villa fan
I don't think they got hammered really, but it's not an unreasonable point you make.
It's an odd risk to take IMO.
He has a 100% record......it would be impossible for him to have done better. He has been perfect so far.
So bearing all of the above in mind why are you wetting your knickers
He has achieved nothing of any merrit at all to now be giving a top job in the Premiership, on the basis of your argument we should sign the top scorer in the conference last season cause as he scored loads of goals at that level that must automatically mean he would bang them in for a Premiership side
Without being a fan of said team you can't possibly know that. It's also highly unlikely as no manager is ever perfect.
He could sink or swim, he could be excellent, good, average or shit. His experience means I wouldn't personally be in favour if he was coming here and we were in a period of transition with little or no money to invest and a rank average squad.
It's a massive gamble and for the sake of judas I hope it fails big time.
There saying pretty much the same as on here, for & against.
Not saying that at all. He was the best manager in Norway last season so it's far from ludicrous to consider him for the villa job given his playing experience and coaching experience under SAF.
What has McCleish achieved in the Premiership?
