Re-opens this Friday.
Good news, hope it makes a difference. Looks like 3 lanes northbound?
Christ Ive been away too long didnt know there was a new one.
I go through the new un most days, the old looks about ready. Lights on, the lot.
Hopefully it'll ease the queues
Although I guarantee some clownshoe will break down around 9am on the first day its open
Price up to £1.40???
Is that right?
Not until January.
It should make a massive difference.
Them roads leading up to it look a bit of a weird set up like
Wonder if there's plans for lights on the roundabout on the jarrow side.
Getting onto the roundabout on a morning is a pain in the arse, especially when no fucker indicates left as they exit the tunnel.
I'm sure it was open on Friday night, might have been a test run.
Backlog will just move up to the Silverlink roundabout now...
The silverlink roundabout is now 4 lanes and never has any queues northbound
weren't supposed to but most of the funding was cut for the project so its a mend and make do affair . Was supposed to be solutions for the Testo's and Silverlink roundabouts but they got axed.
Does that mean they've just moved the bottleneck?
£14 a week to get to work and back
And that is on top of your petrol costs (and tax, insurance, car finance, maintenance)
Surely this will encourage people to use the Tyne Bridge route
This, the improvements to Silverlink are actually quite good. I don't use the tunnel too often.
I'm interested in how on earht the road layout is going to work, theres traffic lights and all sorts, looks funky. It'll go tits up for weeks before they get it right mind.
You can get a pass to get 10% off
Potentially. Will be interesting to see what happens to Silverlink when the increased traffic flow hits it.
I can't see it being much worse, northbound you may see more traffic at the booth, but beyond that shouldn't be much worse at all.
That's because the traffic is currently coming out of the tunnel and through that roundabout, once the first tunnel opens that roundabout will only be for traffic going to South Shields/Jarrow so the flow of traffic across that roundabout will be reduced. If they put lights on that roundabout then there would be a chance that it would create a jam and cause problems for the A19 south traffic.
You stupid tw@ you've just put the jujus on it now.
