bet the mags were inspired by shola
The management are not going to like that...
AHHHH seconed season syndrome, it couldn't happen, could it?
Wasn't Ameobi talking about Champions League football last season?
I wonder what new style of play Pardew is attempting to implement?
The sensible ones should accept it, it is no different to any promoted club. First season survive, second survive again and just consolidate, third top 15, fourth top 10, is a reasonable plan for a club building slowly and carefully.
That is pretty much what we have done, so we are right on target. Given there is a very strong top 6 these days, the 4 other places for a top 10 finish make tight competition. Consolidating ourself in the top 10 is a reasonable aim, with a big push for top 7/Europe next season.
Well Nolan wont be bothered as he's left and Barton is on the outer
Aye, he said they wanted to get Champions League football back to St James'. He wants to make his mind up.
I have to say Pardew's 'team building' looks like a 14 year old playing 'Football Manager'.
The fact that most Mags are very quiet, totally unknown for them, makes me believe that they're far from convinced about the team ......... I'd be amazed if they managed to improve on last season when they had Nolan, Carroll and the buzz of being back in the Premier League.
If Barton and Enrique are sold I'd go as far as to say 'relegation battle' :-D
Half of what made them remotely decent last season gone already, with the other two to be sold on deadline day.... There is going to be some major shoe waving come the first game of the season.
"Hopefully we'll get a few more players in and hopefully build the confidence and quality of the squad."
I like this bit Is he saying the squad isn't confident like? Can't think why!
Reading that transcript of Barton's talk in, it sounded like the likes of him, Carroll and Nolan dragged the rest of the squad up by the scruffs of their necks and united them. Two of those people are gone, one is going, maybe before the start of the season.
The Mags may have s igned a few good players, we don't know yet, but the team spirit they had last year, which was a massive thing for them looks in big danger.
Most Mags ( the sensible ones if there are any) are quoting doom and gloom and saying that the narrow minded ones are pinning thier hopes on the new and young French talent being league winning superstars. Very envious of us at the minute due to the spending we have been showing. Saying the last time they tried to rely on French players, it fucked up and the only decent French player thay had was Ginola, the rest went missing when things didnt go their own way
Mind there are also the fuckwits that are quoting them to finish above us and for us to be fighting , if not being relegated
They're players with character who can rise to the occasion as they showed against the gutless pile of shite we turned out, I would never have let any of those bastards put on a Sunderland shirt again.
I think the mags will struggle this season without them and almost certainly end up in a relegation battle.
Mike Ashley will not like that. Mike Ashley has already said a top 8 finish is the minimum requirement next season.
I like Mike Ashley. But he's a berk sometimes.
They will be alreet imho, there will be enough shite down there imho that will keep them lower mid table without much fuss. If that is good enough for barca of the north east of course is another matter.
we were perilously close to going down the 2nd season, hope they can go one better.
think QPR, Norwich, Swansea, Wolves and Wigan will be below them.
That's pretty accurate ......... however, there was some shite around when they were relegated and they had better players in that season.
Aye i think that was due to the fucking on with the manager situation as well. Im not pardews biggest fan but if they stick with him instead of causing a fuck on then i think they will be ok.
I'm hoping the players realise that Pardew is just a sad puppet and lose all respect for him ........ if that happens he'll go the way of the rest and Ashley will appoint another nugget.
