This thumbnailing thing has ruined chop threads, which were by far the best thing about the SMB.
this, what a fucking ridiculous move by rodger/whoever
Unfortunately he's had no choice. Too many people posting images they don't have the rights to. All explained in the photography forum
The second nail in the coffin after the dismantling of YouTube links.
Loada shite, if the owners want to keep their images exclusive to their sites it's easy enough to do so, that's why some only show up as red crosses, nowt illegal in hotlinking those that aren't protected in this way, and Roger knars that cos he said so himself...
It's a legal grey area
Roger has moved to the thumbnail approach as that is safer within the law based on previous cases
You don't have to prevent hotlinking to assume copyright over your images
Aye but you aren't legally protected if you dont...
Like I said, it's a legal grey area. There's nothing to stop people hounding Roger about photos used on the site
Would you fancy the job of dealing with that?
Maybe then he could sign up with an image host, and block all images posted on this site bar those hosted with said image host, could probably make something out of it along the way...
People nick photos, stick them on image hosting already though
