Which part is the most multi-cultural area of Sunderland?
And do you think its a good thing?
All areas around the campus where there are chinsese and east asian students probably if you look at stats.
Also i'd say the millfield end of town, on chester road, alot of Pakistani's there.
yes i think it's good, brings its probelms but overall many more positives.
No-Better off with all English.
Buying my first property in Sunderland's most multi-cultural area is something I will never fully recover from financially!
I would have probably said Millfield/Eden Vale as well.
I think its quiet nice to see a bit of racial intergration.
But it needs to work both ways.
Too much self segregation for my liking.
Chester Road has a lot of Asians.
Doesn't seem to be any bother.
How did you suffer like?
I have family who live in Houslow in London. They moved down there during the 50's to get work and they just stayed there.
They have seen the changing face of multiculturalism in London and they have said that it has gradually become a horrible place to live.
Nowadays my great uncle does not even go to the pub on a night for fear of being mugged/attcked/stabbed. He has been threatened by somalian youths a number of time
I want out city to stay the way it is
I have no issues with colour/race/nationality.
It's 'culture' that I have issues with. I don't like the idea of people with very different ideas of what society should be like living here. Do as we do and you're welcome, or else piss off.
And yes, the same applies to British ex-pats before the lefties jump on me.
I couldn't give a shit what people do as long as they don't, kill, rape, thieve, assault shoot or stab and apart from that hold down a job and anyone is welcome.
chester rd/ eden vale. not as good thing at all
What the town needs is inward investment and i think asians tend to do this more than the whites these days, just look at Cheema's Pool/Snooker place cost thousands to set up and revitalised an old building that was becoming derelict, also slightly more controversial is the church the sikh's converted on Ryhope Road which wouldn't be standing now if it wasn't for their investment.
Based on what? I live on Chester Road and have never encounted any problems at all. And this is coming from a white skinhead that walks past the Mosque at night when it chucks out.
lucky you. theres plenty of trouble
Not from your area (never been there)...
But I worked in East London for a while and seen what ethnic diversity does to an area...
I welcome other cultures with open arms - but it needs to be managed correctly and not left to run out of control like said East London...
Bar Arizona, particularly on a saturday night. Cultures from every corner of the universe.
I never see any. And I walk up Chester Road almost every day at night coming home from work.
What exactly does it do to an area? As long as everyone (on both sides) makes the effort to intergrate and be accepting of others there should be no problems.
theres your problem
