TBF thats a bit harsh on SAFC. Ellis must be livid that England pissed about over Allardyce and only decided at the 11th hour to go for him. Moyes came in late and was dealt a crap hand. We are consequently playing catch up at everything and had to make some pretty swift and ultimately crap decisions about certain things.

Well he had longer than Keane. About the same amount of time as Ranieri had last season. Donald Love was a bizzare signing. He's no better than the lads in the U23s. M'Vila and
Yedlin were no brainers. We could have came to some compromise over Kaboul, didn't even try. Bentnar and Berbatov were both available on frees.

Trouble is, we needed forward options who were willing to play second fiddle to JD. That probably accounts for most of the failure to sign players like Naismith and Ulloa.

Is naismith not largely playing second fiddle in the championship currently instead? I'm sure he'd have happily come if we'd meet his wage demands

Absolutely on its arse. Need to go easier on the players in training and pay more attention to the recover/off phases.

Also, not sign injury prone players.

Take a look at all the attacking players that transfered to other clubs during the last month of the window, assess which ones we could have afforded and then compare them to what we have. It's stunning how many people believe that proven strikers, creative midfielders, etc. are just sitting out there waiting for a call from the Sunderland manager and willing to come.

I have and we failed to go for any of them, it was shockingly poor.
