His music seems to be popping up everywhere, think I might like to investigate it, recommendations?
I recommend you try Willie Nelson instead
Any amount of compilations out, all with pretty much the same songs on.
Start there and then move outwards to like Pigeon says, everything really.
this is my favourite one.
i taught the weeping willow how to cry
i showed the clouds how to cover up a clear blue sky
and the tears i cried for that woman are gonna flood you big river
and i'm going to sit right here until i die..
he's fucking class..
Canny but a bit lightweight compared to Johnny Cash.
His song Cry Cry Cry is sung with real hatred and bitterness with a happy go lucky tune chirping along behind it, fantastic contrast.
Soon your sugar-daddies will all be gone.
You'll wake up some cold day and find you're alone.
You'll call to me but I'm gonna tell you: "Bye, bye, bye,"
When I turn around and walk away, you'll cry, cry, cry,
That 'Walk The Line' film about him with Joaquin Phoenix in is canny anarl.
The nine inch nails cover song.....
i thought it was class they did their own vocals and were'nt miming which was really good
Go for the covers stuff he did later in life. I love everything he did (How high's the water Mama? 6 feet high & rising...) Luv it
But the covers stuff is him at his best & most populist (that's not a criticism)
Real easy listening to a Master
American IV is a good one.
I started on JC when I was a nipper and me dad always had the tape in the car.
Then all of a sudden he became 'cool', when Rick Rubin saved his career from the dustbin, where it had been for the previous 20 years.
Now I get annoyed that so many people like him - he's mine, I tells ya!
You can not go wrong with Cash. Everything from A Boy Named Sue to Hurt, the man was a fucking great singer. You really must do the Live from San Quentin sessions, especially when you hear the inmates concurring with the song lyric "I killed a man just to watch him die"
I'm a bit like yourself and have only recently discovered Johnny Cash. Personal favourite at the moment is Ain't No Grave and also heard a cover version of Bridge Over Troubled Water which I thought was brilliant
Just been listening to some Ry Cooder and he has a mint song called 'Johnny Cash'.
The idea is a bit daft but it really works for me.
Johnny Cash is / was as cool as fuck. Legend.
Live at Folsom Prison
Live at San Quentin
Just go from there really.
Separate names with a comma.
