How will We get rid of this lot if we don't go down

It's the only way we will get rid of this current crop of shite

Catts, Wickham, Fletcher, Buckley, Johnson, Oshea, Brown, Bridcutt,

About 27 million there plus wages to give to the new man to bring us back up and breed a new mentality at the club

Why do people think we have to get relegated to sell players? What kind of an idiot are you?

If we stay up and don't want a player, the manager tells him and the name is touted about for another club to come in. Make it clear, don't give them a squad number, train them with the reserves etc. If things are really bad, you pay up their contract.

If we go down then we do exactly the same only people know we are desperate to sell and we get an even lower fee. Our income drops and clubs will wait until deadline day, because they know we will be starting to panic about our wage bill. Meanwhile we do not bring in replacements as we can not risk splashing out until we have cleared the books. If we do offload players at the last minute then we have to buy at the last minute. Is that a good thing?

There are no benefits to going down, only negatives. Yes we need a rebuild and half the players you name are not a priority to replace anyway, but this myth that getting relegated and coming back up will magically make us more attractive to quality players is deluded. We brought in some right crap when we came up last time because nobody wanted to gamble on a newly promoted club. lets hope that never happens again.

Alternatively when the contract expires it is not renewed.
I guess a big difference in the FL compared to PL with contracts generally 2 years or maximum 3 years.

It isn't anywhere near as easy to sell players as you are suggesting, especially given we are vastly overpaying for a lot of them. We could of course pay them off but given our financial situation that's not really viable on a big scale.
There are no benefits to going down, can't believe people think that's any form of solution.

Chances are we'll have to subsidise a lot of wages to get all the overpaid shite off our hands.

And then what... The current DoF setup have hardly covered themselves with glory and are partly responsible for this squad.

I wouldn't trust them to rebuild the team into Championship beaters, even if Uncle Ellis could pony up the cash.

He won't spend a lot on quality in the prem, what makes you think he'll spend much more in the championship?

12M budget in the prem, what budget in the championship? 6m? We won't be getting promoted any time soon.

We won't be able to get rid of them, you might offload Johnson, Giachy, Fletcher, Defoe then you will have to build around the rest of the players. It is impossible to get rid of a whole team in 1 season and build another no matter how much we want them out. Most of the players will probably have a clause in their contracts saying if they go down they will take a percentage pay cut. The other thing is if we did go down I wouldn't expect us to bounce straight back up, it just isn't that easy is it, we'll be there for 2 or 3 years at least.

Full expect Fletcher and brown to get new deals if we stay up
Brown is finished. I would not even keep him as backup.
The problem in not bringing the kids through is clearly seen in that we have no-one to replace the likes of Brown and O'Shea and clearly Vergini and Coates are not good enough.

Totally agree with you mate, but I m not so sure the club will see what most people can

That'll be why I said "even if Uncle Ellis could pony up the cash", you twisty faced knacker

;)

The problem here is that we're talking about replacing individuals. What we need to do is replace a group of more talented individuals with a more talented team cumulatively ie seven or eight lads who play for each other and get the best out of each other rather than lads who may be better one for one but can't make a difference because everyone else is taking the afternoon off.

The replacements don't need to be individually better than what we have for us to progress. Look at the teams above us in the league who on paper have far inferior players to us.

He got it a time when he was performing well and was, alongside Larsson, our best player. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why he got a new deal.

As for the OP. Well where do I start?

Mentions getting rid of the shit then lists our best players. Mental.

Best players ?
Cattermole is either banned or injured
Wickham 1.3 mill a year, 1 goal every seven games
Fletcher..... Need I say more
Johnson is only in there because he will go
The rest are shite on massive wages

Wake up and smell the roses you fool

Pantilimon - will leave as he's better than Championship.
Brown - someone will pick him up, a promoted club.
O'Shea - terminate his contract, will save us money in the long run.
Cattermole - away to Stoke.
Defoe - away, won't play Championship football.
Fletcher - ship him out to Celtic on loan as long as they pay half his wages.
Rodwell - loan him out, same as Fletcher make sure someone pays a decent wedge of his wages.

Johnson, Larsson and Wickham might go but we can also keep hold of them if we have the finances.

Ok you're right. They aren't our best players
