Sorry in advance, this is another mag thread, but rest assured I'm not obsessed with them, unlike many on here. I've been thinking...(could be dangerous) this side they're building. It seems to be full of foreign players again, just like the Newcastle of old. There's no solid english spine. There are no players that know the passion of a derby game. I've seen this touted by many as their new team... Krul Simpson Taylor Coliccini Santon Gutierrez Cabeye Tiote Ben Arfa Ba Cisse. Where's the British spine the likes of City, Spurs, Chelsea & United have? They went this way in the early 00's and it culminated with them being staffed by a bunch of mercenaries like Viduka & Kluivert et al and eventually lead to them getting relegated. I had my fears that Sunderland would do the same thing, it looked increasingly like that was the way Bruce was heading - not so under O'Neill hopefully. We had lacked the fight and spirit in recent months (before O'Neill) and even more so in recent derbies. I can see Newcastle going the same way once again, I'm sure they've signed good players, but so did we. I'm not saying outright they'll get relegated again, that'd be ludicrous, but it doesn't seem they've learnt their lesson.
